Mike Lawrie, Founder/CEO/Chief Investment Officer

Mike Lawrie is a globally recognized business and technology leader, strategist, and change-agent with proven success in transforming enterprises to create growth, new market opportunities, and value for stakeholders. Lawrie is the Founder and CEO of The Lawrie Group, a private company providing consulting services on value creation and enterprise transformation, and related investment management services.

Lawrie served as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), the world’s leading, independent end-to-end IT services company serving more than 6,000 global enterprise clients in more than 70 countries. A $20-plus billion Fortune 500 company, DXC was formed in April 2017 through the merger of the Enterprise Services business of HPE and CSC, where he served as President and CEO from May 2012 to March 2017 and was appointed Chairman in December 2015.

Lawrie grew DXC’s industry practices, talent base, and solutions portfolio with several strategic investments and acquisitions including: argodesign, Aspediens, Fixnetix, Fruition Partners, Luxoft, Molina Medical Solutions, TESM, Tribridge, and UXC. These acquisitions, coupled with the development of a global network of digital transformation and innovation centers, accelerated DXC’s transformation from an IT services provider to a digital powerhouse. Lawrie spearheaded more than 200 industry-leading alliances, with companies such as Amazon Web Services, AT&T, Dell Technologies, Google Cloud, HCL, HP, HPE, IBM, Micro Focus, Microsoft, Oracle, PwC, SAP, ServiceNow and VMware. Lawrie retired from DXC in Q4 2019.

Lawrie has also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Perspecta (NYSE: PRSP), formed by the May 2018 merger of DXC’s U.S. Public Sector Business with Vencore Holding Corporation and KeyPoint Government Solutions. He also served as the initial Chair of CSRA, Inc. for two quarters following its spinoff from CSC and prior to the merger of CSC with the Enterprise Services unit of Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Lawrie came to CSC from UK-based Misys plc, a leading global IT solutions provider to the financial services industry. He also served as the Executive Chairman of Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions, Inc. from October 2008 to August 2010. Prior to Misys, Lawrie was a partner with ValueAct Capital, a San Francisco-based private investment firm, and before that CEO of Siebel Systems Inc. Lawrie spent the first 27 years of his career with IBM, where he rose to Senior Vice President and Group Executive, responsible for sales and distribution of all IBM products and services worldwide.

Lawrie has a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio University, an MBA from Drexel University, and an Honorary Ph.D. from Shiv Nadar University.

Dave Johnson, Senior Partner/Member of Investment Committee

Dave Johnson is a globally recognized corporate strategist and expert in M&A and related integration, having successfully completed more than 120 acquisitions representing more than $40B of equity investment, divestitures, and venture capital investments.

Dave co-founded TLG Capital Partners with Mike Lawrie, having joined the firm the Blackstone Group where he was a Senior Advisor and Senior Managing Director. While at Blackstone, Dave led the firm’s technology sector where he was responsible for numerous domestic and international acquisitions in Cyber Security, Cloud Solutions, IT Services, Consulting and Outsourcing.

Before joining Blackstone, Johnson was a Senior Vice President of Strategy for Dell, where he was responsible for 20 acquisitions, including Inc. Perot Services, Secure Works (Cyber Managed Services) and Boomi (Cloud SW). Dave also created and led SW Business to $1B in revenues. Prior to Dell, Johnson was a VP, Corporate Development at IBM. In addition to having particular expertise in M&A and related acquisition integration, Johnson serves or has served on various Boards, including Gillot Capital Partners, Cloudreach, Intsights, Mphasis, Cylance, and Pactera. Dave has a Bachelor of Arts and MBA from Boston College, PMD from Harvard University.

Jonathan Morris, Partner/Member of Investment Committee

Jonathan Morris has a strong operational and execution track record with over 20 years of experience with leading financial insitutions. Jonathan led principal investments and structuring at a large family office, which has signed over $1.3 billion committed capital agreements. Prior to that, Morris was an Investment Banker with the Blackstone Group where he oversaw several transactions and from 2012-16 served on the Board of SunGard AS. Before joining Blackstone, Morris was in the TMT Investment Banking Group of Credit Suisse where he successfully completed ~100 billion of transactions. Jonathan was a capital founder of GAIN Capital, a start-successfully IPO’d. Morris began his career with Lombard Odier, a private Swiss bank where he worked as a private equity analyst. Jonathan has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Georgetown University.

Alex Miller, CEO, Synergetics

Alex Miller is the CEO of Synergetics, a management consulting firm headquartered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire renowned for “implementation consulting”. Alex is a seasoned business consultant with over 30 years of cross-functional and diverse industry experience which encompasses global conglomerate and private equity portfolio businesses, in both an operational and consultative role. He is an expert in process improvement, cost control, expense reduction, revenue enhancement, and working capital optimization. Alex has successfully led revenue enhancement and cost optimization engagements leading to margin expansion through business improvements and has an expertise in world-class operations with practical knowledge in start-ups, acquisitions, consolidations, and restructuring. Alex’s experience spans multiple industries including financial, professional, business and educational services, software / technology services, and healthcare services across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Alex holds a Bachelors in Engineering from University of Exeter, UK; a Masters in Systems Engineering from University of Cape Town, S.A., and an M.B.A. from Open University, UK; and in Artificial Intelligence – Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Robotics from the MIT – Sloan School of Management.

Jo Mason, Chief Operating Officer

Jo Mason, the Chief Operating Officer of TLG, is an experienced executive in leading corporate transformations, with extensive hands-on experience with M&A activity leading day one integration of acquisition and merger companies. She has worked with organizations to drive execution of strategic initiative, transformation and process reengineering within all areas of the business including HR, finance, delivery, sales and IT. Jo’s work as a global CHRO included leading all aspects of human resources, including talent recruitment, retention, workforce development and organization effectiveness, as well as policy, benefits and compensation transformation. Jo previously served as Executive VP and Chief Human Resources Officer of DXC after completion of the HPES Merger. Prior to joining DXC, she served as Chief Human Resource Officer and VP of CSC, after joining the firm as the Chief of Staff and Head of Change Management and Execution Office. Prior to joining CSC, Jo was Chief of Staff and Operation Director at Misys plc. Ms. Mason is an executive sponsor of global diversity and inclusion programs driving cultural change.

Vijay Gopal, VP/Senior Business Advisor

Vijay Gopal is a senior business advisor to TLG. He is a seasoned business executive who led a series of bold transformations spanning a breadth of global technology businesses. He is currently a Global Transformation Leader at PTC and is responsible for transforming PTC’s business to drive top quartile profitable growth and position it as a leading provider of Industrial software as a service platform provider. Prior to this, he worked at DXC in various senior executive roles, where he turned around revenue and profit for 3 regions (US and Latin America; UK, Ireland & Nordics; Australia & New Zealand), a global service line, and acquired and integrated a $640M business. Prior to this, he spent 15 years at IBM and held executive positions responsible for selling and delivering large IT transformation deals across Telecommunication Services, Financial Services and Public Sector clients globally. Prior to this he was the founder and CEO of Digital Engineering Consultancies, an IT services company in Australia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India and a master’s degree in business administration from the Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Peter Richards, VP/Chief Technology Advisor/Member of Investment Committee

Peter Richards is a chief technology advisor to TLG, and a member of the investment committee. He is currently a board member and Global Chief Technology Officer at Cloudreach, a consultancy that helps enterprises through the digital transformation driven by the adoption of public cloud. Prior to joining Cloudreach, Peter had a 25-year career in financial services technology, having served as CTO at Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns and the Investment Banking divisions of JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America. In those roles he was responsible for bringing new technology into the banks, engineering the integration into the overall systems environment and applying it to the business processes. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Bristol University.

Dan Hushon, VP/Chief Technology Advisor/Member of Investment Committee

Dan Hushon is a chief technology advisor to TLG. Prior to working with TLG, Dan served as the Group Chief Technology Officer at DXC Technology. Before joining DXC, he was the Chief Technologist of Cloud Information Platforms at EMC and was Chief Technologist in product, sales and service roles at Sun Microsystems. Mr. Hushon brings more than 25 years of experience delivering technology-differentiated solutions and has been involved in complex real-time data systems, enterprise "digital transformation" strategy and execution, as well as both internal product development and customer facing field organizations. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computational Bio-Physics from Carnegie Mellon University and has over 25 patents and numerous industry awards.

Maruf Majed, Senior Business Advisor

Maruf Majed is a senior business advisor to TLG. He has a rich and diverse background in technology leadership roles, including senior assignments with IBM, Siebel Systems, webMethods and Misys, where he served in multiple regions including Americas, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa. Prior to joining TLG, Maruf was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for United Kingdom, Ireland, Israel, Middle East and Africa region for DXC Technologies responsible for for driving DXC’s market and business growth and coordinating regional operations. Before joining DXC, he was General Manager of the Middle East region for Misys where he led successfully led several banking transformation programs. Prior to this, he led APAC for Siebel Systems for three years and webMethods for four years, where he was based in Singapore. Maruf started his career with IBM where he led multiple roles across US, Europe, and Middle East. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree from the University of North Dakota and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas.
